Sacramento Open Studios, 2017

As an artist moving to a new city, there is nothing better than an Open Studios to get acquainted with the types of studio buildings around town and the people inside them making new work. Yesterday I biked around midtown Sacramento for a a couple of hours, spending most of my time at the WAL (Warehouse Artist Lofts) and Verge Center for the Arts.

As always, there were printers doing amazing things in small spaces - Myrtle Press and Interval Press at Verge. There were artists carving out space in their homes and lives to make work that feeds their creativity - Kari Sullivan and Dacy Kolsky at WAL. Best of all, I could see there was a public community eager to come by and see what everyone is up to.
