The Berkeley Rose Garden

During a day spent in the Bay Area we visited the Berkeley Rose Garden because I am incapable of not visiting a botanical garden once Google Maps makes me aware of its proximity.

The gardens are in a steep amphitheater arrangement and while the blooms were certainly past their peak color, I started to really enjoy capturing their graceful decay as I wandered around. Gardens are so often only documented during the most flattering times of the year when they're putting on a perfect, spring show. But it was fun to find interesting shapes and compositions in the decomposition.
